Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery

The Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery was established to address the need for a specific curriculum addressing female pelvic floor disorders. 

As our population ages, these problems become more frequent and there needs to be a dedicated program to teach this discipline in the Department of Obstetrics and  Gynecology.  The disorders addressed are urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, vaginal prolapse, uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele, urinary and fecal fistulas, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and menopausal symptoms.  The Division Director is Ken Hatch, MD, Dr. Ilana Addis is Associate Director and Director of the Urogynecology Testing Unit.

The UroGynecology Program provides full urodynamics studies to assess the causes of urinary incontinence.  This enables physicians to accurately diagnose conditions and recommend treatments that are as minimally invasive as possible and most likely to be effective.
