The Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery was established to address the need for a specific curriculum addressing female pelvic floor disorders.
As our population ages, these problems become more frequent and there needs to be a dedicated program to teach this discipline in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The disorders addressed are urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, vaginal prolapse, uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele, urinary and fecal fistulas, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and menopausal symptoms. The Division Director is Ken Hatch, MD, Dr. Ilana Addis is Associate Director and Director of the Urogynecology Testing Unit.
